it’s finally here! my new canon 5D!
February 19, 2009 | Filed Under family photos, photography
picked it up wednesday morning. practiced on musa. took it to Lost dinner at friend’s house wednesday evening. wanted to share! oh and these are also with my new standard lens: tamron 28-70 f/2.8.
put musa up on the counter and started snapping.

at my friend’s house… okay so it’s hard to compose when you’re not looking through the viewfinder.

my friend raheela is an AMAZING cook! this dinner spread: angel hair pasta with fresh spinach, tomatoes and cream; seared salmon fillets; green bean casserole; tossed salad with homemade garlicky dressing; simple boiled sweet corn. oh yum.
also, noticing with these pictures the natural vignetting that occurs on the full-frame – i love it, but was able to remove it for this picture…

took this one because imran wants a new facebook profile picture… added vignette to this one.

raheela took these pictures, not me! she is also thinking about getting a dslr and getting into all this…

baba feeding buddy grapes – this vignette is natural.

couldn’t resist trying this out at night, on the way home. intersection of 29 and 193, just north of the beltway…

YAY! you finally got it!
I am very happy for you!
The clarity, sharpness and color reproduction is eye-catching and really beautiful. Imran’s face is very detailed mashallah. I am very happy for you and pray for your mazeed success in your endeavors.
Love you baitee
You should DEFINITELY get the 35/1.4L for this camera. The combo has been my bread and butter… gorgeous. Actually, ANY fast prime would do. Try out the Canon 50/1.4. The DOF is beyond 3D.
Mubrook, inshaAllah kheir.
thanks you all! love you too abboo!! :)
saad – that would be awesome!
i do have the 50/1.8 – i figure it will serve me well as a pretty fast prime until i can dish out for a better one. but i definitely plan on upgrading to the 1.4 when the time comes inshallah! a lot of people also seem to like the 85/1.4 for portraits… have you tried it?
see you next weekend inshallah!
