rainy-day family portraits

April 30, 2009 | Filed Under portraits

i met with some family friends of ours at brookside gardens in wheaton, md, on a recent sunday to take some pictures. the weather had been gorgeous the day before, but by the time we got out to the park late afternoon, it was overcast and just the tiniest bit drizzly. i got there just before them, and when i saw a bride strolling through the park for her own pictures, i was determined to stay and try, too!
our friends’ older daughter is just a little younger than our son, and they seem to be becoming friends, too!

    Beautiful portraits!

I love the soft diffused overcast day light, a little drizzle makes all the colors come out :)

You know cousin, the best thing about your photography is the photographer’s genuine gaze of appreciation and affection that comes through.
And they’re really well done of course. mashallah.

Ayesha, we love, love, love these pictures! Haroon was amazed that you were able to get such great shots. The kids were impossible, but you managed to catch some really beautiful moments. Thanks so much! Also, Marya can’t wait for another playdate:)

    mashallah
The breath-taking shot is that of the baby. It resembles the typical baby of the food ads but that is not all, the bright eyes with half open mouth without teeth and the forefinger pointing almost up (angusht-e-shahadat) to say
    La ilaha Illallaah
I think this is the most remarkable photo of a baby I have seen in my life.
Ayesha I am so proud of you
