shehzad & nadia

shehzad and nadia had already been married for about a week when i met them at their walima – a reception traditionally given by the groom’s side and usually the last in the exhausting series of wedding events that make up the traditional pakistani or indian muslim wedding. so, it was no surprise to see how comfortable they were with each other, but it was very sweet anyway! we started out with portraits before the evening began, first with traditional “studio” portraits using my backdrop and lighting kit, then outdoors to grab a few quick shots by the lake before the rain began; then upstairs in a hotel hallway. during the event, which was held in separate rooms for men and women (except when the groom joined his bride on stage and for the cake cutting), i shot only on the women’s side. out of respect for the family’s religious standards and privacy, i’m limiting what i share here to mostly images of the bride and groom (and the groom’s adorable little sister, among other cute little girls!) rather than other guests. shehzad’s family was incredibly kind and helpful to me – especially his parents, for keeping things flowing during the family portraits at the end!
so here are three of my favorite shots taken while we were doing portraits; the rest you can see in the slideshow below!

Love the third picture on the blog post… great framing. I think it’s my favorite shot of the wedding including everything on the slideshow. I appreciate detail shots and close crops.
