hiba & sajid: virginia engagement photographer

it wasn’t until after hiba had signed me on as her engagement party photographer that i found out i already kind of knew her in-laws – more specifically, her fiance’s brother’s wife is a friend of mine. but even without that bit of serendipity, hiba’s family made me feel so welcome at their home that i would have had a blast anyway :) hiba’s family and friends decorated their basement with simple elegance – in colors matching hiba’s dress – to celebrate the couple’s engagement with just those closest to them. it was a pleasure for me to be a part of this ceremony, and absolutely my honor to be trusted with capturing it. hiba’s makeup and hair were beautifully done by the talented oriana.

Masha Allah! Wow. That’s all I can say. I’m in awe of your skills and I pray everyday that I can enhance my craft to 1/2 your skill level! Aside from your skill, what a beautiful couple. I love how they decorated and I can’t believe that is in a basement–are you for real? Lovely!
A question, or two, or three on equipment & lighting: I’ve been trying to find a lens that can do it all, especially give me that Bokeh effect. Your photos are superb. I believe we use different brands of cameras, but I’m still wondering what lenses you carry with you at all times (and which lens created that amazing bokeh on the photos of the lovely blue dress). Also, how was this room lit? Did you use an attached flash? Ohhhhhhh I’m soooooo in love with your work! :)

These pictures are absolutely stunning! Your future bride is beautiful! I am delighted that I will be invited to the wedding, and I have already entered the date on my calendar. John won’t be attending. He has been having eye problems, and he has a surgery scheduled just a few days before your wedding. He won’t attend if he has to wear a patch. There will definitely be ONE Ragan there!
