gagan & vanu - sangeet & jago

GVSanJagBlog-15.jpg

i met vanu just a few months ago when we got together in raleigh to shoot her and gagan's engagement session, but i met gagan about 20 years ago when his oldest sister and i became bffs in college. gagan's family are so dear to my heart, and seeing him with this incredible young woman and how happy they make each other has been such a blessing. to be a part of this amazing, three-day wedding weekend myself was such an honor - my heartfelt thanks to vanu and especially vanu's mom, for trusting me and taking me on for this most important event; and to auntie manjeet, all the love in the world <3
so i've shared here some photos from the first two days of events... starting with the sangeet at vanu's family home, at which vanu and many of her friends and relatives had henna (mehndi) applied on their hands, and celebrated with song and dance. the next night, i was actually not there! but i had the pleasure of working once again with photographer jerold santa cruz, who was my second shooter for the third and final day of events, and jerold was able to cover the second night for me. the second night was the traditional "jago" ceremony, in which the family members dance and celebrate while carrying a large, brightly decorated steel jug. many more photos to come, from the wedding ceremony and reception on the final day!
