osman & lubna: walima: washington, dc

so excited to share a few images from the third and final event of osman and lubna’s epic wedding saga! their walima – or groom’s side reception – was held at the national building museum in washington, d.c., a truly majestic venue in itself but quite jaw-dropping when designed and decorated by design artist taimur baig, who will soon be launching his own event website, and planner/decorator prabha bhambri. nothing, of course, looked more amazing than lubna herself… but the night was truly made memorable by the hilarious and moving speeches of the couples’ family and friends, and the warm welcome osman’s family gave to his bride and her family.
i had again the indispensible help of virginia photographer amber wilkie, who captured some of the stunning venue shots shown below and the awesome dance images later on, aside from helping me throughout the night; i also had the pleasure of working for the second time this summer with videographer natasha from dolce studio films.
osman and lubna, again, i can’t thank you enough for allowing me to be a part of this journey with you both! may your marriage always be as blessed as it clearly has begun :)

naureen & muhammad: shaadi

naureen and muhammad’s wedding day was as sunny and gorgeous a spring day as anyone could have hoped for – i have to say my favorite part of the day was when we hopped over to centennial park in columbia to take some outdoor portraits before the wedding started. a favorite haunt of mine from when i lived in columbia, as well as a favorite of naureen’s – she told me how she used to sit in the picnic balcony over the water and read for hours – it was plain to see how happy she was there.
naureen dazzled in her red-and-gold lehnga, with makeup impeccably applied by the amazing sanober, and muhammad was resplendent in a cream sherwani with elements echoing naureen’s dress. the love and joy of both families was infectious -especially during the tearful speeches given by naureen’s two loving brothers (i don’t think there was a dry eye in the room – mine certainly weren’t!). and the cupcakes – check out the spread below! – were an absolute win, especially if one was to judge by the number of tiny finger-dips left in the icing of the kid-level cupcakes!
many thanks again to zoshia minto again for her help in shooting the wedding. naureen, it was such an honor to be a part of all this with you, and i pray that the love, comfort and happiness i saw between you and muhammad on your wedding day continue to grow stronger every day for the rest of your lives together.

engagement shoot: nafeez & jessica

February 26, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 3 Comments

nafeez and jessica are getting married!! in october this year. in gettysburg!! so, in honor of that, we had been planning to shoot some pretty historic-type pictures – more to come on that later – but since that didn’t work out, we settled on a historic location – the beautiful landon house in frederick, md., where anyone with a penchant for civil war history – or just a love of beautiful historic homes – can set up a memorable wedding experience.
be that as it may, we had to make our photo shoot memorable by having to plunge through the foot or so of snow still remaining on the ground there – not to mention the squelching mud left over in the plowed patches. the great thing about engagement shoots is that they give the photographer a chance to get to know the couple a little bit as a photographer, and i had a blast getting to know nafeez and jessica! after seeing how intrepid jessica was about tackling the snow in flats without socks, i’m sure the wedding day will be as smooth as silk! :) seriously, though – or not – nafeez and jessica, i loved seeing the way you two laughed together, and i can’t wait to meet the rest of your families and work with you both again! congratulations again, and see you very soon :)
