gagan & vanu - virginia sikh wedding
the third and final day of gagan & vanu's wedding started before the sun rose, but everything was in place for the morning ceremony. gagan made his entrance on horseback, to the echoing thunder of the traditional dhol drum - which he himself played when i made my entrance at my own wedding, twelve years ago. the rain couldn't dampen the spirits of this wedding party!after the welcome and entrance rituals, the ceremony took place in a ballroom styled as a gurudwara - a sikh temple - where out of respect, everyone entered with bared feet and covered heads. following a lunch for all the guests, everyone retired to get ready for the reception - a gorgeous evening event styled by shagun weddings. vanu's younger sister and brother, together with other friends and family, performed some epic dance routines for the couple, and the dance floor itself was no less lively at the end of the evening. again, i couldn't have captured this incredible day without the help of jerold santa cruz as my second photographer, who stayed with gagan and his family in the morning and helped me out throughout the day. it was also a pleasure, as always, to work again alongside videographer raj rimal and his team.
