Fatimah & Aamir - San Francisco Portraits & Walima
1 can’t believe that it took me so long to get around to sharing this wedding - in particular our sessions in San Francisco, because that’s the farthest I’ve traveled for a wedding and it was pretty much the perfect weekend for me. We had two portrait sessions - one the day before the walima, starting at the Palace of Fine Arts, then stopping at the Crissy Field area right at sunset to get photos with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, then back to the Palace for some nighttime shots. The weather and sky were gorgeous and so were Fatimah and Aamir and the whole day was a photographer’s dream! The second portrait session was right before the walima, at the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge in the San Francisco bay - a gorgeous open space of golden hills, marshland and open water, and we had the most beautiful afternoon light. Fatimah and Aamir’s walima was held at Chandni Banquet Hall in Newark, Calif. and was a beautiful ending to all their wedding festivities, filled with love and joy and dancing. That weekend sort of epitomized everything I love most about this job - to be surrounded by beauty, to be given the honor of taking it in and making something beautiful myself out of it, that endures far longer than that magical sunset, or the golden, windswept moments at the refuge, or the fleeting laughter on the dance floor at the end of the night. I feel so incredibly grateful to have been there and to have this to show for it <3
