catching up from the end of last year… i’m very excited to share fatima and shams’ wedding reception from the j.w. marriott in washington, d.c.! beautiful couple, breathtaking backdrop for portraits, stunning color and light in the hall (this gorgeous decor is by partyland!), joy and love among family and friends… really a photographer’s dream come true! but best of all was meeting and getting to know the lovely fatima, and being able to make her happy with her wedding memories :) thank you so much for having me there, fatima, and may Allah bless you both in your life together!

last but not least, maria’s beautiful wedding <3 again, all the gorgeous table decor was done by her sisters; makeup by the amazing amani asad, cake by afreen. all in the community – all people we’ve grown up with together. i’m so lucky to come away from this wedding with not only the honor of taking the pictures, but many wonderful memories of being with so many people i love. maria… even though irfan has taken you away from silver spring and you no longer live five minutes down the road… i guess he’s a keeper :) i speak for plenty of folks when i say that seeing you happy like this is the answer to so many prayers. love you always <3

maria’s mehndi! most amazing mehndi outfit i’ve ever seen – and all the colors and decorations were planned and executed by maria and her amazing sisters and sister-in-law – zahra, esha, hannan, you guys worked so hard and i hope these pictures really show how much love you put into this amazing party! also a shout out to my multi-talented brother hassan for playing the dhol for both this night and the next.
the menfolk stuck around this party for a bit, and i’m only sharing a selection here that i took before they headed out and the real party began. enjoy, and stay tuned for the shaadi!

my childhood friend and sister-in-faith/heart/life, saying her wedding vows in the same prayer hall where i said my own nearly a decade ago, through the same imam and teacher we both grew up learning so much from, to a man who truly, deeply cherishes her and makes her so beautifully happy. surrounded by family and friends i grew up with or watched grow up. so, now you know how much these pictures mean to me!
