Ruth & Geoff - Charlottesville Fall Engagement Session
Happy Friday, friends! It’s been almost exactly two months since my last wedding, and today was supposed to be Ruth and Geoff’s wedding day. It sucks unimaginably that after all their planning and hoping, like so many other couples, they have had to postpone their wedding because of this pandemic. So I wanted to share some of my favorites from their engagement session, just as a reminder that love is stronger than the trials it faces, and as a statement of hope as the country looks cautiously toward opening up again.
Our session took place last fall here in Charlottesville, at what’s become one of my favorite places to be - the Saunders-Monticello trail just south of the city. On a stunning fall afternoon, I took my little one on a hike out there; Zayd and I took the pond walk, and I couldn’t resist sharing some images of the reflections in the pond - brilliant, sun-gilded fall foliage against a vivid blue sky, repeated in the water. Ruth saw my IG story about it and we ended up arranging their engagement session the very next day! It was such a pleasure meeting her and Geoff, and hearing about their wedding plans at a farm in Waynesboro.
The trail, being part of Monticello’s historical grounds, is still closed, of course; I am looking forward to the day when all parks are open again, but I know that it will take time for things to be really safe. So whenever Ruth and Geoff, and so many others, are finally able to celebrate their weddings with all their loved ones, I look forward to sharing those stories with you again!
