Simoney & Gust - Virginia Wedding Photography
I’m not sure how I got lucky enough to share two book-lovers’ weddings in a row, but here we are! From the moment I saw the book centerpieces, and the bridesmaids clutching piles of books instead of floral bouquets, I knew I was with my people. Simoney is working on her own book, and her friends’ wedding speeches made note of Gust’s support and encouragement for her creative work. All the heart emojis! At weddings, I’m always looking for the elements that truly make the event special for the couple; for these two, apart from the books, I made sure to capture their matching wedding ring tattoos, the carefully, gorgeously choreographed dances, and of course, the ramen toss (if you have books instead of flower bouquets, you can’t very well toss books, can you??).
It was a bright, warm, early spring day at the Boathouse at Sunday Park in Midlothian, Va. - the loveliest possible weather for what was to be the last wedding I shot before the shutdown. We were just starting to hear of wedding postponements, but we couldn’t have known how profoundly things would change in the coming weeks. I’m so, so glad that Simoney and Gust and their loved ones were able to enjoy their wedding day as planned, and so happy that I got to be a part of it!
